You've changed

Zapple flew over ponyville, excited for her surprise visit home. She's been at her flight school for over a year, and though she didn't need it, she knew she wanted space from her family being at every turn.

"Zapple?" A voice drew her to a halt, she didn't recognise it it wasn't like anybody she remembered. Turning, she went wide eyes as the purple stallion hovered before her, his eyes just as large. She landed quickly, as did he before he trotted toward her.

"You've changed." He stated, causing her to frown, ruffling her wings irritably as he got closer, his eyes looking over her.

"You say that like it's a bad thing..." He snorted, shaking his head as he beamed at her.

"Quite the opposite, why the change, if I may ask?" She shrugged, pawing at the ground lightly with her hoof, avoiding looking at him as the stray strand of red fell into her eye.

"Wasn't really a choice, the light bushyness ah got from momma just faded, though ah like how it's like dads now." He nodded lightly, still unable to stop looking at her, as he brushed the srang back from her face as he would before she left.

She stood awkwardly, though she knew he was her best friend since they were foal, it felt different. A good different.
